Car Insurance Coverages To Add In 2022

In 2022, news stories come out daily about the requirement to return to the office. While Covid is still among us, that is yet to be seen. However, with the possibility of more people potentially required to return back to the office, more drivers may be on the road in 2022. I myself take the the opportunity to evaluate what I can do to improve my quality of life at the beginning of each year.

For example, the first day of the year, I purchased new glasses as my current glasses have their best days behind them. Car insurance is no different as the proper amount of coverage could give you a peace of mind. As my Mother would say, “You do not know what insurance you need until you need it.” I hope 2022 is not the year you need to test that theory. However, here are some car insurance coverages to add in 2022.

Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist Coverage Is A Must

I have said it time and time again. Florida does not require bodily injury coverage. That means that the at-fault is not required to carry any coverage to cover your medical expenses should they hit you and cause injury. Injury can result in medical expenses, pain and suffering, and future medical expenses. You must protect yourself and your family. Protecting yourself means purchasing uninsured/ underinsured motorist coverage. This coverage is activated when the at-fault either does not have any bodily injury coverage or not enough coverage to properly compensate you. It is a must in 2022, especially considering the way some individuals drive in Florida and the current insurance laws.

Add Rental Car Coverage If You Do Not Have A Second Vehicle

Rental car coverage is a necessity if you are not willing to pay for ride sharing or rental out of pocket, and do not have an additional vehicle. If the at-fault does not have enough property damage coverage and you do not have rental car coverage, you may be out on your own. Therefore, it is important to add rental car coverage to your policy so you have transportation should an accident occur.

There are other additional car insurance coverages that I could suggest. However, these are the two main coverages I would suggest adding in 2022. I understand that car insurance is expensive as it is. But, should an accident occur, the last thing you want to worry about is if you are under insured. Take the opportunity protect yourself and your family. Like I said earlier, you do not know how much insurance coverage you need until you need it.
